TCG Manager 2.0 beta testing

October 15th, 2012 by Anouska

This update has been a long time coming, too long, but it’s finally almost done. Before I release it though, I would really like to get some people to beta test it and get some feedback.

TCG Manager 2.0 currently has these features:
– Affiliates management1
– Card management
– Member management
– Card randomizer

I’m still working on adding:
– Updates log with comments
– Games management

I will set up a feedback site for the beta testing, but would like you to:
– install TCG Manager 2.0 on your own server (because I really want to make sure it works everywhere)
OR I will give you access to the test install on my server if you can’t do a test install on your server
– test everything and try to break things
– give feedback on problems you come across and just general feedback on the script and features

If you are interested in beta testing, let me know by leaving a comment and I will e-mail you once I’m ready to start beta testing. You don’t have to publicly state your email address in the comment itself, I can see it if you just put it in the email field and say “I would like to beta test” or anything else in the comment.

Also, if you think I should add some other feature, please let me know what it is that you’re missing!

  1. I noticed there’s problems with the images when updating an affiliate. This is fixed in 2.0. []

Where has the time gone?

July 29th, 2012 by Anouska

Whoops, has it been THAT long? Where has the time gone?

Studying and work
I graduated from law school in August 2011. I spent a lot of time trying to find a job. In the current economy, I wasn’t able to find the job I had been working towards with my degree. I did find a job at a law firm that is in the right field, but the job itself is nowhere near the level of my degree. When I signed the contract, everyone thought it would be possible for me to get a job on the right level later on. Just a few months in, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen anytime soon.

Looking around for jobs again, there’s still nothing to be found. There are some jobs in related fields, but I would need to take some extra courses and even then there’s only a few jobs to be found and a lot of people applying. Then I started thinking, is this even really what I like to do?

I could take extra courses to possibly get a job that I’m not immediately excited about, and even if I was able to get the job I have been working towards with my degree, I started doubting I would want to do that for the rest of my life.

So what then, would I really like to do? Enrolling in a new study, it’s just not financially possible for me. Or so I thought. I’ve found a long-distance learning program on Communication and Multimedia Design and have decided that’s what I want to do.
About one and a half year ago, I thought I wouldn’t like designing for others on a regular basis, but really, I love design & coding and would absolutely love to be able to learn more about it, do it on a daily basis and get paid for it!

Blogging
It’s been way over a year since I last posted anything here. I have done some work on TCG Manager, but it’s been on the backburner a while. I do plan to pick it up again and hopefully release it with its new features — updates log and card manager — within the next few months. Well, really, I hope to release it sooner, but I know I’ve said that before and can’t promise a release date just yet.

Two weeks ago, I also started a new blog to share my experiences with eating disorders, body image, personal fashion and food. Through sharing my experiences, I hope to be able to help other women to feel great about themselves. It can be found at TooMuchCandy.org.

That’s what I’ve been up to during this time. So, hi again?

When life gets busy

March 17th, 2011 by Anouska

I had huge plans for Silent Storms when I re-opened it, but then I got so busy, mainly with uni-related stuff now that I’m in the very last few months of my studies. I have still been playing around with graphics a bit, and will work on writing more tutorials when I can. For now, I just wanted to share some awesome typography-related sites.
